MARYLAND ADULT-USE CANNABIS LICENSING

RECREATIONAL / ADULT-USE LEGALIZATION

On November 8, 2022, Maryland voted to legalize recreational adult-use cannabis beginning July 1, 2023 to allow individuals 21 and older to possess up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis and grow up to two (2) marijuana plants out of public view.

Recreational sales will not be immediately available in Maryland. Regulations governing retail sales of cannabis have yet to be established, but will likely be a topic of discussion in the next General Assembly session.

Until July 2023, please note that medical cannabis is still a treatment option for Maryland residents 18 and older with qualifying medical conditions. Such individuals must first register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). Click here for more information.
