Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Licensing

Application Process to Become a Registered Medical Dispensary in Massachusetts

In Massachusetts, both medical and recreational use of marijuana is permitted. Entities which wish to operate medical dispensaries in Massachusetts must apply to become Registered Medical Dispensaries (RMDs). There is forced verticalization in Massachusetts. This means that RDMs must (1) dispense, (2) cultivate, and (3) process marijuana for medical use. An RDM may not engage in only one or two of these activities, but rather, the RDM must engage in all three. Applications of intent are currently accepted on a rolling basis. An applicant may apply for up to 3 certificates of registration.
