Student Associate 2023
Ryan Murphy is a law student at New York University School of Law and is one of Leaf Legal, P.C.'s Summer Associates. He became interested in cannabis law during a class on administrative rule making and is excited to be working with a firm dedicated to navigating the complex regulatory environment.
Ryan has gained valuable experience with drafting legal documents through the Uncontested Divorce Project, helping domestic abuse survivors get out of unwanted legal ties.
Previously, Ryan worked as an algebra teacher in a Chicago public school. Seeing the impacts of the legal system on his students, including the criminalization of cannabis, encouraged him to make the switch to law.
Ryan received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago; he's prepared to make air-tight arguments.
When he's not studying law, Ryan enjoys learning languages on Duolingo, practicing his juggling, and going on runs along the West Side Highway.
